From the Pastor's Desk

“By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. By faith he made his home in the promised land like a stranger in a foreign country; he lived in tents, as did Isaac and Jacob, who were heirs with him of the same promise. Heb. 11:8-9.

Faith operates on the ‘word that comes from hearing’ the Spirit’s voice.  It is some “information” from Heaven that informs our journey, at a particular moment.  For that moment, we need only that Heaven-sent information.  All that Abraham needed to ‘complete his assignment’ was the information that he received, “Go.”  His decision to obey, his first step, and his continual on-going carrying of that word, were the evidences of his faith.  He did not stop or pause to ask, “Why? How? Or How far?”  He simply took what he had received and acted on it.  Moses was commanded to lead God’s people out of Egypt.  He had to get continual instructions all along the journey in order to succeed.  He came to many ‘road-blocks.’  He had to receive fresh instructions.  No instructions, no progress.  Often, we can hear from the Lord and set out to obediently do His will.  However, when difficulty comes, we can get frustrated and perplexed that what seemed to be ‘the way forward’ is now stymied and impossible.  That’s the signal to get the next word, that opens the way forward.  Listen, its coming!
